This is a message from Marlene Roger's daughter.

As a 70th birthday surprise I am dragging my mom (kicking and screaming) into/onto the internet. She's been pretty resistant to technology - closed out her email account, has never seen this wonderful OHS site (bless you Ralph Posey for creating such a wonderful collection of memories and access for your classmates), refuses to text - and frowns on texting in her presence (gasp!!), and ... no facebook page -

So, for her birthday - 9 days from now (November 16th) I have created a new email account, a profile on this website and a facebook page. If you remember my mom then please take a minute to do one or all of the following:

• Send her a birthday card on this site

• Send her a birthday email to her new email account mrlnrgrs@gmail.com

• Friend her on Facebook

• Share pictures with her on Facebook. I'm not sure how to share pictures, but I did add a few photo albums to get her started.

• If you are into snail mail drop her a card at PO Box 30016 Midland, Texas 79712

Don't expect a response from her right away as the big reveal is not until next week. Mom and I are attending a 70th birthday mother/daughter three day slumber party in Granbury (starting November 11th) with several of her OHS classmates (Linda Sides, Vera Crawford, Cookie New, Anita Greene Wilhelmi, and Virgie Lou Boyd. Whatever happened to old........?

Why don't we start a "whatever happened to old so&so? I've wondered about a lot of classmates over the years who just seemed to simply disappear. I was asked about a classmate, Jack Kennelley, the other day. Jack was to be in the class of '56 but dropped out to tour with the Teen Kings (bass). He came back and I think might have finished at mid term in our class. I had a source and was able to find him in Littleton CO. Someone wanted to invite him to the '56 reunion next yr.

I often wondered whatever happened to Linda Smith who married Grady Bingham.
She had a little brother Jack Smith who was two years behind us. We never "dated" but were good buddies. Anyhone know whatever happened to her?

Someone can always find someone else so ask away....."what ever happened to .....?

Does anyone know whatever happened to Mary Jane Gentry. She taught Texas History and was outstanding. I was lucky enough to get her instead of some football coach who didn't even have a history degree. She cared about her students and made history fun. I loved that woman.

"Misty" by Johnny Mathis is now on the OHS58 Playlist as song #79.

When you log in, scroll down to the "Playlist" Player located near the end of the Home Page and "click select" any song. The player is currently set to "Random Play" (Shuffle On).

If you want it to play sequentially, Turn the "Shuffle Off". The yellow-colored "Shuffle" Toggle is at the top right of the Player and looks like a sideways "X" . If you want the music to keep playing when you leave the home page, simply "Click" the "Pop Out Player" (bottom center), and minimize the display screen.

You may also have to restart the Player by clicking the Triangular Play Button ( I> ).

Johnny Mathis's recording of "Misty" came out in 1958. It made him an instant star. I'm a huge Mathis fan.

They were indeed cousins. Drew was packed and ready to go to Grady's 70th birthday party in Woodville. I talked to Cole yesterday and today, and he was in Woodville. He will come here for the services.

Richard, I know Cole was Drew's cousin. The others I'm not sure about. Linda talked to Cole yesterday and he may try to make it here to Drew's services. In fact, when Linda talked to him he was at some sort of reunion which Drew had planned to attend. You might check with Linda about the relationships. She's kept up with them better than most. Richard. I believe Cole and Grady were cousins of Drew and Bobby Holderman (Drew's older brother). But I suggest emailing Cole at " cholderman@elp.rr.com " for the correct relationships. I had known Drew since we were in the 6th grade at Austin Elementary in Mr Curlee's class. There is a class picture showing Drew in this class. It is located in the "OLD Classmate's Pics" toward the end of the photos. Drew introduced Joyce and me to his wife Jeanne (Lubbock Monterrey, 1960) during the Saturday morning OHS Tour at the 50th Reunion.........Ralph

Dear Classmates, We finally have our very own website! We owe our thanks to Ralph Posey for finally taking the initiative to get it on the internet. From what I see, this site has the potential for being one of the best Senior Class addresses on the Net. Ralph has given this project a lot of thought, establishing links to many other places that will interest all of us in some way. Our goal as classmates is to use this site. I hope that is exactly what you do. It will allow to keep up with each and every classmate, hopefully some we have lost contact with over the years. We can look at our friends who moved to Ector High School for our senior year. They are no less than our good friends from the first two years of high school. We can look at classes behind us and classes that went before us. I've always thought the Class of 1958 was a special group. Even though we were a large class I think we were lucky to have known each and every member of the class in some way and we could honestly call them all "Friends." We enjoyed a Golden Time, the likes of which will never happen again. They were carefree times. And I for one will never forget them. So, please, let Ralph know how much you appreciate this gift and I hope every one of you will become as active as possible putting information and memories on these pages.
