ODESSA. Charles (Chuck) Lane, age 73, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Hospice House in Odessa. He was born June 7, 1940, the only son of Charles Byron Sr. and Waldine (Powell) Lane in Denver City, TX. Chuck and his family moved to Odessa in 1948. A graduate of New Mexico Military Institute, he served his country with honor in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1960 - 1966. He was a gifted salesman, selling insurance and later cars. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own car lot, Chuck Lane's Motor Inn.

Chuck loved the Lord and ministered to all who would listen. Since the mid-80's, he ministered full-time to the community at large with the mission of "Connecting the one who has a need to the one who has the resource and helping to communicate & coordinate within the body of Christ."

Chuck was involved with several Christian organizations, including Community Prayer and Share Luncheon - Odessa, The Light House Ministry, The Freedom Network, Kingdom of God Storehouse - Midland/Odessa, and United Christian Fund in the Permian Basin. Chuck was also a part of the Home Cell Groups Ministry in Midland and Odessa.

Chuck is preceded in death by both of his parents. His memory will live on in both of his sons Greg Lane and wife, Laura of Dunn Loring, VA, and Jeff Lane and wife, Cathy of Odessa, TX; his former wife Lola Lane of Dunn Loring, VA; his four grandchildren Jessica Boyce of Midland; Jeffery Lane Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD, Taylor Lane and Samantha Lane, both of Dunn Loring, VA; and his two great-grandchildren Kelby Jo Boyce and Hendrix Slaughter, both of Midland.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be held at the invitation of Don Palmer at Life Unlimited (located at 4224 N. East Loop 338) on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Cecil Robinson and Lynn Davis officiating.

Chuck's mission in life was always to serve and bring the body of Christ together as one to help others in need. So in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to "The Healing Rooms Ministry at Life Unlimited" in memory of Chuck and all the blessings he gave to those he touched throughout his life.

Services entrusted to Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
