MARLENE E. ROGERS, OHS 1958

(b 11-16-1940 - - d 12-17-2020)

NOTE: Marlene's "Remembrance" below was provided by her children to honor their Mom.

Marlene Elizabeth Rogers passed away on December 17, 2020. While this is a remembrance, it is also a deeply felt thank you. Our mom did not want a funeral service, or an obituary she simply wanted to be remembered by those she loved and who loved her. Mom turned 80 on November 16, 2020 at Medical Center Hospital and as her body and mind weakened we discovered she had pancreatic cancer.

Mom was grateful to her children and loved ones for their help, care, calls and gestures during these last days. We were blessed to have the staff at The Parks Shawna, Pearl, and Michael, Kasi, Grisel, Madison and Regina only to name a few. Her family are grateful to Home Hospice nurses Debbie and Shelly and Dr. Francisco for their guidance and attention. Grateful as well to Medical Center Hospital staff Brittany, Tonya, Justine, Jason, Marcella, Justin, Steven, Chris, Hector, Natalie (and her mom Brenda) for these last few days of vigilance and attention. Thank you to the Odessa High School family of friends who connected with mom these last days - Virgie Lou and Red she so enjoyed your calls and dear Shawna we know our mom will be comforted to join your mom Linda. Grateful to Linda Hayes Schoendienst, mom's first employer following gaining her accounting degree from Texas Tech University in 1989; your calls and special gift sent to the hospital reminded mom of your enduring care and friendship.

Greta Vaughn was a favorite of our mom's she considered her a friend more than anything and she loved that she helped her clean and organize and undertake special projects around the house.

Mom had a strong faith and fond memories of First Baptist Church in Odessa, and her Bible Study Fellowship group in Midland. She had a meaningful connection through BSF with Tish Deffenbaugh and we appreciated her words of faith and music selections for mom in her last days. Our family is also grateful to Dr. Jimmy Braswell Chaplain, Home Hospice for the time he spent in prayer with mom.

Mom will lovingly join her parents Norena Morgan Rogers and Maurice James Rogers who passed before her but we imagine her first joyous moments will be with Oscar and Sunshine jumping and dancing about to greet her. Mom developed her affection for dogs late in life, but it was an abundant love.

She left this earth with much gratitude in her heart for cherished friend and former neighbor Jeannine Hurst who took her companion Barney into her home these past few weeks. Mom named Barney after Barnabus - Father Tim's dog in the Mitford series of books and she was grateful Jeannine loved and knew Barney and adds a fourth dog bed to her home.

Mom leaves behind her loved ones Mark Scott (Marla), Lori Scott (Ronnie), Matt Scott and granddaughter Allie Scott; all will dearly miss her.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in our mom's name to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals in Midland, Texas.
