Bell, Sharon "Nana"

ODESSA Sharon "Nana" Bell, 68, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Medical Center Hospital from heart failure.

Sharon was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Electra, Texas. Nana moved with her parents in 1947 to Odessa. She graduated from Ector High School on May 29, 1958. On May 30, 1958, she married the love of her life, LeeRoy Bell. She had their daughter, Royce Diane Carver, on Dec. 22, 1959, and their son, RoyLee Bell on Nov. 20, 1966.

They moved to Kermit, Texas, in 1966 where Sharon became active in Girl Scouts. She was a troop leader and Neighborhood Chairman for many years. She was also an active 4-H leader. Nana was a devout member of Eisenhower Church of Christ and taught the 2-year-old class from 1959 until the present.

In 1976, LeeRoy and Sharon became avid street rodders. Nana loved to travel to Rod Runs and car shows. She started writing for the Lone Star Street Rod Newsletter and soon became editor for a while. She was also a director for the Lone Star Street Rod Association for well over fifteen years. She thoroughly enjoyed driving her 1929 pepto-pink roadster pickup, whether she was going to a car show or just to get groceries.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Maurine Williams; and her sister, Royce Diane Williams. She is survived by her husband, LeeRoy Bell of Odessa; her daughter, Diane Carver and husband Harold of Coahoma, Texas; seven grandchildren, Karolynn Carver, Daniel Carver and his wife Lauren, Megan Bell, Joshua Bell, Brittany Bell and Michael Bell all of Odessa; three adopted grandchildren, Robert and Maria Segura of Odessa and Lindie Melendrez of Midland; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella Chapman, Adreanna Carver and Ethan Buchanan, all of Odessa; three adopted great-grandchildren, Phoenix Murrill of Midland and Vanessa and Andrea Segura of Odessa. She also leaves behind a very large extended family and many dear friends. She touched the lives of many and was loved by all. She was the most loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother; she was our Nana.

The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Allen Weakland officiating and Jim Rowlett and Bobby Williams assisting. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
