Deceased. I believe King Cole was killed in an automobile accident on the highway between Odessa and San Angelo, Texas.

Odessa Victim's Rites Set

Services will be held today at 3 p.m. for a 19 year old Odessa High School Senior who was killed when his car overturned near Garden City Friday. The victim is James King Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cole, of 1110 
Rosewood.

Slightly injured in the accident were his brother, Chuck Preston Cole, 14, and Leonard Dean Ewart, 15, 1000 East 6th

Cole was killed while on a hunting trip in the Garden City area. The boy's father said the boys were looking for a spot to hunt rabbits when the accident occurred about 22 miles south of Midland on State Highway 158.
Highway patrolmen said that the car driven by James Cole went off the side of the road and Cole lost control of the car which plowed through a fence and overturned.


Cole was born Oct 28, 1938, in Odessa. He lived here all his life. He was a former member of the All City Little League team and played for the Bronco blaseball team when he was a Sophomore and Junior.


In his Sophomore year, he was a member of the student council. He is survived by his parents, his brother, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Hammett of Odessa, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frannie Franklin of San Antonio. Pallbearers will be Esmer Dick and Ronnie Butler, students at Odessa High;
Charles Huckabea, Billy McCoy and Billy Taft, Odessa College students, and Jimmy Nix, a student at Kermit High School.
