Leo Vernon Cloud, OHS 1958

Leo Vernon Cloud, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and friend to too many to name, passed away unexpectedly April 4th, 2018. He served our country by enlisting in the Navy March 1, 1958 and served until May 5, 1962. We, his family, are left with one major question- who will keep the laughter coming now that he is in heaven?
There is not a person who ever met him who didn’t spend time laughing with (or at) him. He was extraordinarily quick witted, knowledgeable about a multitude of topics, and never, ever, met a stranger. There is no way to explain how his humor worked in a few short paragraphs. You just had to know him and to know him was to love him.

Leo had a 35-year career with Rexene. He raised his Children working the night shift and still managed to attend track meets, graduations, and baby births. His love was unfailing.

As a former member of the Permian Basin Bass Club, Leo spent a lot of time fishing with his Son David. You should have seen the fish that got away from those two! They were monsters- two feet long and 20 pounds! It all happened too quickly to get any pictures.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Ellen Sue (Boman) Cloud of Monahans and his daughters Karren Schoolcraft and her Husband Roy of Wickett, and Michele Miller and her Husband Mitch of Odessa. Four Grandsons Brandon Cloud, Daniel Schoolcraft, Michael Miller, Matthew Cloud and five Granddaughters Terri Oliver, D' Anne Oliver, Rhonda Oliver, Amanda Schoolcraft and Samantha Schoolcraft. He even had Great and Great-Great Grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Sister-In-Laws Patsy Boman and Linda Hillger of Phoenix, AZ. Brother-In-Law' s Troy Greenfield of Carthridge, TX and Ron Cook of Big Spring, TX along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leo is preceded in death by several family members including his Son David Lee Cloud of Carrollton, parents Vernon and Dorothy Cloud, two sisters Peggy Greenfield and Janet Cook, and a Brother Robert (Bobby) Cloud. His in-laws Chester and Marie Boman and Sister-In-Law Debbie Boman-Mann.

Leo knew the source of his salvation and trusted in the Lord completely. Heaven help the Angels now as they are laughing until their bellies ache.


Memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the United Pentecostal Church in Monahans, Texas with Tracy Banks officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
