Ben Leroy Bevers, a resident of Waxahachie for 24 years coming from Corpus Christi, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in Arlington at the age of 69. He was born on November 17, 1939 to Annie (Gatlin) and Roy Bevers in Odessa. Mr. Bevers was a musician and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Roy Bevers.
Survivors include daughter, LeAnna Bevers Mendez of Waxahachie; son, Jeff Bevers and wife Melissa of Katy; sister, Jo Barbie of Louisiana; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A Masonic graveside service was held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County.
NOTE: Although Ben Bevers was not a member of the OHS Class of 1958, Ben was well known by many members of our class.

Actually Ben went all through school with us in Odessa until after his soph year. He elected to go off to San Antonio to Peacock Military Academy with his friend Gary Boyd. Ben was the first drummer for the Poor Boys and drummed with other bands in the area.
