LAKE KIOWA (Special) - Services for John W. Malaise Sr., 80, of Lake Kiowa will be at 2 p.m. today in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Chennault, pastor, officiating.

 

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Malaise died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Smithville. He married Betty Rector on Nov. 26, 1941, in Handley. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Big Spring in 1945, and he was head basketball coach and a math teacher until 1949. He moved to Odessa, and he was head basketball coach and a math teacher at Odessa High School. He retired from coaching in 1962 and continued teaching until retiring in 1983. He moved to Lake Kiowa, and he was a member of the Lake Kiowa Men's Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dub of McKinney and Dan of Lubbock; a daughter, Liddie Malaise of McKinney; a brother, Lawrence of Richardson; three sisters, Louise Hudson of Temple, Appie Webb of Temple and Beth Easley of Lake Kiowa; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
