Judith Quinettte Webb (10-2-40 to 4-1-10)

ODESSA Judith Quinettte Webb, age 69, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 1, 2010.

She was born Oct. 2, 1940, in Odessa, Texas, to Gordon and Virginia Oliver. She married Sonny Webb on July 10, 1958, in Odessa. She was Past President of ABWA (American Business Women Association) and was chosen as Woman of the Year for ABWA. She was also a longtime employee of West Texas Office Supply and retired from Service Office Supply. She enjoyed the outdoors, was a master gardener, deer hunter and bird watcher and also loved to read.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Sonny Webb (OHS 1958); her children, Fred Webb, Kathy and husband Bruce Abbott, Nancy and husband Jimmy Looney, all of Odessa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Marion and wife Robin Oliver of Hutto, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Life Unlimited, 4224 E. Loop 338, in Odessa with Don Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Home Hospice and of Compass Hospice who helped care for her.

Judy Oliver Webb (10/2/40 to 4/1/10) was Joyce Anoris Posey's best and closest friend at Bowie Jr High and at OHS. They were both members of the Capris at Bowie and the Amicaes at OHS. When Joyce and I were secretly married on Friday 5-16-1958 in Monahans, Judy was the only person (other than Joyce and I) who knew about it. But, fortunately, Judy, although sworn to secrecy, told her boyfriend, Sonny Webb and one other person who in turn told another couple of people who then told others, until rumors of Joyce and my "secret" marriage had spread like a wildfire throughout Odessa during the summer. After my older brother (Don Posey) confronted me about the rumors, Joyce and I (with our juvenile mentality & "wisdom" at the time) decided we should quickly announce our engagement with an engagement ring before our parents learned of our "secret marriage". This was supposed to lessen the shock when our parents heard that we were married. So I guess we simply rearranged the order of things to married first, engaged second (hey, we never claimed to be "Brilliant"). When we finally admitted, in December 1958, to being married and moved in together, Judy and Sonny were the only other married couple we knew who were as poor as we were and whom we enjoyed socializing with. Their friendship and support was extremely important to Joyce and me since we were very immature. So you can see how we truly valued our friendship with Judy and Sonny Webb very much and how important they were to Joyce and me and to our own 52 year marriage. May Judy "Rest in Peace" knowing she will always be Remembered "Forever In Our Hearts".
