From Sharon Shipley Massey (Lowell's sister), 8-19-2011

Ralph: I wanted to let you know that Lowell passed away last night. I found out this morning and am leaving my office now, but wanted to let you know as I appreciated your concern for him. I did tell him that you were emailing and remembering him being a “Legend” on the drums and he laughed at that.

Regards,
Sharon Shipley Massey

"Those who attended Bowie Jr. High in 1954-1955 will remember Lowell's drum performances in the Band's performances of "St. Louis Blues". Lowell's performances were Truly Legendary!" rcp

Odessa friends, Lowell Shipley is not doing well. Today it was decided to take him off of all life sustaining machines and meds. Lonnie, myself, and Sharon, his sister, visited him three weeks ago and had wonderful memories of Odessa friends to share. He is in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
