William F. (Bill) Gerber

William F. (Bill) Gerber of Lamesa passed away November 24, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. He was born March 25, 1940, in Hobbs, New Mexico to Cecil and Trilby Gerber. Bill grew up in Andrews, Texas and was a graduate of Andrews High School, West Texas State University in Canyon and Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Bill was a former coach and teacher in Littlefield, Ozona and Slaton. After Serving as a school administrator in Lamesa, he became an insurance agent. He worked and lived in Lamesa and San Angelo until his death. Bill enjoyed serving his church and community. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served many years as a Sunday school director. He served on the Medical Arts Hospital Board and a term as a Lamesa Mayor.

Bill leaves behind his wife, Martha; children, Buddy Gerber of Lubbock and Suzan and husband Brian Gargan of San Angelo; grandchildren, Will Gerber, Lucy Gerber, John Gargan and Mary Claire Gargan. He is also survived by two sisters, Sandra DuPuis of San Angelo and Virgina Kelly of Florene, Orgeon; two nephews, Perry McClintock of Austin and John Kelley of Lubbock.

Bill lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed a host of friends.

Memorial services will be at two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Lamesa with Chris Powell officiating. Services are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home of Lamesa.

The husband of Martha McClain (Gerber),  Bill Gerber,  passed away this morning from complications related to surgery. He had been through gastric by-pass surgery at a facility in the metroplex area when he suffered a heart attack. Arrangements have not been completed at this time, but I will send them to you when I know more.

Funeral services for William “Bill” Gerber, 70, of Lamesa, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, 11-28, at the First Baptist Church in Lamesa.

Services will be under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Mr. Gerber died on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, in Dallas.
