LaVonne Kay DeBerry, 78, of China Spring, Texas, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

There will be a private celebration of Kay’s life with her family.

Kay was born in Odessa on December 24, 1941, to Vernon and Ruth DeBerry. She grew up in Odessa and attended Odessa High School (OHS'59). Kay was of the Baptist faith and came to know the Lord as a youth. Kay worked in the insurance and oil industries in Odessa, El Paso, and Midland before retiring in 2007 when she moved to Eden and lived until 2019. While in Eden she enjoyed volunteer work, serving on the Concho County Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of First Baptist Church before moving to China Spring in 2019. Kay loved being outdoors working in her yard and she especially loved animals of all kinds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ruth DeBerry; and brother, Anthony Keith (Tony) DeBerry.

Kay is survived by her sister, Julia DeBerry Shaver and husband, Billy Ed; nieces, Jennifer Culbertson, Kristie Shaver Kwan, Alison DeBerry and Amanda DeBerry Dain; nephews, Jeremy Shaver and Clark DeBerry; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins and will be missed by all.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to everyone at Providence Hospice, especially Chelle, Jennie, Kimberlee, Tish, Merry, Soraya, and Sundi for the compassion, love, and personal care they gave Kay.

Memorial donations may be made to Providence Hospice (Community Hospice of Texas).
