L. Wade Drennan
Oct. 6, 1941 - Nov. 3, 2020

ADA, OKLAHOMA.

Larry Wade Drennan, loving son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 79 from complications of COVID-19.
He was the third son born to Lawrence & Grace Drennan in Ada, OK and attended schools in Stonewall, Maud and was a proud graduate of Odessa High School Class of 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960 and proudly served our country as a hospital corpsman for over 20 years, retiring in Jan. 1981 from Camp LeJeune, NC. He visited every state except New Hampshire and Vermont and was stationed in or visited 27 different countries.
After retiring from the Navy, he returned to Ada and attended gunsmith school at Murray State College, Tishomingo. He enjoyed all things hunting and fishing, including many hours at the Ada Skeet & Trap Club assisting youth learning the sport he loved and volunteering countless hours at registered events. Wade also had a huge interest in genealogy and had traced his family's history back to the 1700s and helped many others trace their families' roots. He enjoyed experimenting with new recipes, gun shows, car shows and meals with good friends and family. His signature Facebook post would end with "Have a great day. I am."

Wade is survived by his brothers, Lawrence Drennan, Jr., of Ada; and LaRoye Leonard Drennan, of Dallas; nephew, Michael Drennan and Julie, Birchwood, TN; and nieces, Kathy Drennan Wildt and Pat, Spring, TX; Sherry Drennan, Dallas, TX; and Kathryn Drennan Donovan and Larry, of Edmond, OK. He was also the proud great-uncle of Katelyn Donovan Cobb and Tony (Bennett), Matthew Drennan Donovan, and Hallie (Dean and Lawson), James Wildt, Elizabeth Wildt, and Anna Piwonski. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing his beloved Boston Terrier, Bayleigh.
Wade's wishes were to be cremated and buried at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Due to COVID, a service for family will be held Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pontotoc County Historical & Genealogical Society, 221 W 16th, Ada, OK 74820.

"May you have fair winds and following seas."
