Carol Collom Hildenbrand, OHS 1959

Carol A. Hildenbrand, age 75, of Tanglwood Lakes, Greentown, PA, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at home.

Mrs. Hildenbrand was born September 18, 1940 in Smackover, AR and was the daughter of the late William Gaines and Irene Belle (Hankins) Collom

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She lived her life with the sacredness of family always on her mind and dedicated her soul to enriching the lives of her family and others through her kindness, quiet wisdom, special traditions, and inspirational actions. This respect for family was the driving force of her life and gave her the fortitude to persevere through all of life's blessings and challenges. If plan A did not work in life she realized there were 25 more letters in the alphabet and her strong determination would allow her to move on to the next letter.

She was a beacon of hope and optimism and was a true role model to all who were fortunate to have known her spirit. She lived her life to the motto that spending your life complaining today about yesterday won't make tomorrow any better. She was remarkably brave against all of the numerous odds that life had presented and she handled them with grace and humbleness. She was truly an inspiration and will be missed by so many who were touched by her life.

She was retired as a administrative agent in 2002 and was a member of US Coast Guard Aux for 25 years and an active member of the Aquanautics at Paupack Hills.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Robert W Hildenbrand; two daughters: Liz & husband, David Mandracchia of Rockville Centre, NY; Ann Hildenbrand of Scranton, PA; four granddaughters, Abbey Mandracchia; Carolynne Skellen; Lauren Hildenbrand; Charlie Mandracchia.

Calling hours will be Thursday, February 11th from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Friday, February 12th at 10 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley.

Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering in her honor to patient care or research at PO Box 27106, New York City, NY 10087-7106.
