TOM HOLLAND, OHS 1959

Dr. Thomas Cole Holland of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Midland, passed away August 3, 2017. Dr. Holland was born in Odessa, Texas, November 25, 1940, to Thomas Doyle and Juanita Cole Holland. He is survived by two children, Thomas Christopher Holland and his wife Laura of McKinney and Erin Holland Gebhardt and her husband Ted of Meridian; and by two sisters, Pat Holland McPherson of Richardson and Judye Holland Pumroy and her husband Gary of Big Spring. He has four grandchildren, Tanner Cole Holland, Grant Alexander Holland, Blake Gebhardt, and Carson Gebhardt. Dr. Holland graduated from Odessa High School in 1959 and from the University of Texas at Austin in 1963. He earned a Master's degree and a Doctor of Education degree from North Texas State University. Dr. Holland devoted his life to education as teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent at various Texas schools and served as Assistant Superintendent for Midland Independent School District for 23 years before his retirement in 2003. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
