I received a note from Carol Horton that was forwarded from Doris Jane about Tex Paris. I will try to update everyone as we know more.
"Joyce, I got this email from Doris Jane today, asked me to forward to you and then to the class.
Earlene (Tripp Smith, Judie Tripp Paris' sister) just called me with bad news about Tex. He was scheduled for hernia surgery at MCH Friday morning, showed up at 6:00 for 9:30 procedure as instructed and was told that he wasn’t on the docket until 2:30. By the time they finally got to him, he was experiencing atrial fibrillation and surgery was cancelled. He and two of his daughters who were with him evidently went to get a bite to eat, and he went home. The daughters had some shopping to do but went back to check on him later and found him in the floor, having suffered a massive stroke. Midland Memorial didn’t want to treat him, said he needed a higher level of care, so he was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock where he remains in ICU. Earlene says daughter April says he apparently understands what people are saying to him but I unable to talk. Prognosis is not very good. I did get April’s cell number and plan to text her that we’ll all be praying for him."

A note from James Pipkin in an email earlier today.
Leonard Monroe flew to Lubbock today and he and I went to the hospital to see Tex. All three of his daughters were there. He has been moved to a supportive care unit which they explained that it was like hospice. Tex no longer responds to voices and could not squeeze you hand like he could do yesterday.
He does have a brain bleed and swelling. Any further surgery does not have an acceptable prognosis.
