Vera Frances Crawford of Kingsland, Texas, passed peacefully to her eternal rest on August 7, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Illinois and raised in Odessa, Texas, Vera lived a vibrant and robust life filled with love, laughter, and deep connections.
She attended Crockett Junior High School and Odessa High School, graduating in 1958 from the newly opened Ector High School. Vera married her high school sweetheart, Dwaine Crawford, who preceded her in death in 2014. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and community.
Vera enjoyed a long and successful career in banking, beginning in Odessa where she forged countless business relationships and lifelong friendships. Later, she and Dwaine moved to Pflugerville, Texas, where she continued her banking career and helped open Texas Bank, leaving a lasting mark on the community.
Her love for life was evident in everything she did—whether fishing, entertaining, enjoying lake life, or simply spending time with her beloved family. Vera was known for her infectious laughter, generous spirit, and the joy she brought to every gathering.
She is survived by her three daughters: Kim Crawford (partner Stephanie Douglass), Kelly Mullis (husband Jimmy Mullis), and Kory Toro (partner Dr. John Austin); her grandchildren: Chelsea Delaney, Katy Cantu (husband Joseph Cantu), Shelby Mullis, and Alexandra Crawford; and her great-grandchildren: Benny and Jimi Sue Cantu. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews, with whom she shared countless cherished memories throughout her life.
Vera will be remembered as “crazy fun,” full of life, and deeply devoted to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on November 8, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Perissos Vineyard and Winery, located at 7214 Park Rd 4 W, Burnet, TX 78611.
