Birth:  Nov. 3, 1939 Evansville Vanderburgh County Indiana, USA Death:  Jul. 7, 1957 Reeves County Texas, USA Fred was born in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Ardella Barlowe and Fred Douglas Acker. His family moved to Odessa in 1947 after the war and Fred attended Odessa schools, East side Elementary (Lamar), Crockett and Odessa High School. The summer before his senior year, he and his best friend Thomas Keith Mills were swimming in the Pecos River near Balmorhea, Texas. They were exploring caves along the river on a private ranch and they both drown.  Information from Billy M.
