Birth:  Aug. 16, 1920 Death:  Mar. 7, 2007 James G. McMath was a retired school superintendent. Mr. McMath was born to Drury Ambrose and Myrtle Mae Solomon McMath. He married Marie Egan on June 29, 1943, in Walla Walla, Wash. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-17 pilot. He was shot down during his third mission over Germany and hid out with help from the French underground for three months before making his way to England. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was principal of Odessa High School for 19 years and superintendent of schools in Colorado City, Brownwood and Nacogdoches. He was an avid golfer and loved gardening, the outdoors and exercising. He was a lifelong yellow dog Democrat. He was a loving husband and father and was an inspiration to all his grandkids and will live in his families hearts forever. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack, Shelton and Foy McMath; and a sister, Margaret Milke. Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Marie McMath of Burleson; son, James McMath II and wife, Nancy, of Burleson; daughters, Mary Schaule of Burleson, Patricia Gomez and husband, Tony, of Burleson and Susan Platt and husband, Reg, of Dallas; brother-in-law, Leonard Milke; sisters-in-law, Lucille Worley and Oretha Matsler; grandchildren, Jodi Wise, William Schaule and wife, Leah, Becky, Jimmy and Cody McMath, Moses Gomez and wife, Abbey, and Lindi Gomez; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.     Burial: Burleson Memorial Cemetery  Burleson Johnson County Texas, USA   Created by: JME Record added: Mar 08, 2007  Find A Grave Memorial# 18303054	Added by: JME   Cemetery Photo Added by: Carolyn Lane Lewis     Photos may be scaled.
