The Pilgrim ship "Mayflower" which landed at "Plymouth Rock" departed England from this location (Plymouth England) on September 16, 1620.
FYI. The "Mayflower" in 1620 transported the Pilgrims from Southampton, England, (80 miles S/W of London) to Plymouth, Massachusetts which would become the capital of Plymouth Colony. The Mayflower originally set sail from Southampton on September 6, 1620 but bad weather forced it to stop at Plymouth (190 miles S/W of London).
The vessel left Plymouth, England on September 16, 1620 and after a gruelling 66-day journey marked by disease, which claimed two lives, the ship dropped anchor inside the hook tip of Cape Cod at Provincetown Harbor on November 21, 1620.
